What's It Worth? ...1938 Nash Ambassador Six ..Frugal Beauty

By 1938 despite the grips of The Great Depression Nash was on a roll. With all new bodies Nash had its sights set on rivals Buick and Hudson. The Nash value leader was the Lafayette. Powered by a frugal six cylinder engine it offered value in a well built package. The Nash Six was a robust and smooth engine that in many ways was much better than the Six's from Chevy and Plymouth.

For the more opulent customer Nash offered the Ambassador. Featuring plush interiors and added luxury it was very Packard-like in its appointments. With the Ambassador you could get a big six cylinder engine or the smooth running straight eight. In 1938 Nash offered two industry firsts. A fresh air heater system that used fresh air from the outside.

The other would be a favorite of teens watching “Submarine races“ ..The Nash seat. The front seat would fold flat to the rear seat offering an instant bed. Much to parents dismay Nash would offer this Makeout Seat till its demise.
