Rolling Art Part 1 ...Beauty Of A Forgotten Benz In The Snow

Are old cars an Art Form? We think so. We have noticed scattered thru Long Island's Twin Forks there is a wealth of forgotten vehicles that despite the neglect are indeed Rolling Art.

This is the start of a new series for us called Rolling Art. We will feature in black and white photos some of Long Island's most beautiful but forgotten vehicles.

Our first Rolling Art is a 1984 Mercedes Benz 380SE. The 380SE is a member of the Benz #126 body series. First introduced in 1980 as a 1981 model the 126 Body was one of Mercedes designer Bruno Sacco's most fluid and iconic designs. It replaced the somewhat stoic 116 body. Featuring engines in the USA market from a 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel up to a 5.6 liter V8 monster.

Body styles were 4 door sedans with regular or extended wheelbase (SEL's) or the beautiful SEC two door hardtop. The 126 body Benz was produced for model years 1981-1991 making it one of Mercedes Benz's best selling cars.

Our feature 1984 380SE has the lightweight 3.8 liter V8 and was only produced between 1984-1985 in the USA market. We didn't have to go far to capture this German Road Torpedo. In fact it was right outside the Vintage Auto Appraisal Car Condo after a recent snow storm. More Rolling Art on the way...
