When you follow a Bill Mitchell design masterpiece like the all new for 1963 Corvette Stingray or C2 you tend to feel like a middle child. The word "Icon" comes to mind when you think about a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe. Only made for one year 1963 the Split Window was more of a engineering problem than a design victory. The fully curved glass would not be ready till model year 1964 due to flaws in the safety glass design. Oddly the Splitty is considered much more collectible than the improved outward view of the 1964 Vette.
Many C2 fans consider 1965-1967 as the best of the breed. New for 1965 was 4 wheel disc brakes, improved power plants including Big Blocks. 1967 the last year for the C2's for some is the best of all Mid Year Vettes as far as design and performance.
The poor little Middle Kid 1964 Corvette Stingray till this day have been somewhat overlooked. That's good and bad news. The bad news it's not a 1963 Splitty or first year C2 and never will be. The good news is you can still afford to buy a real nice driver for about 40k or less.
Even more good news is they are agile, reliable, parts are plentyful, powerful and is still a Classic Corvette that will only go up in value. The average Joe will sure to give you thumbs as you cruise past in all your 327 Small Block V8 Glory, top down with a big smile on your face. Classic American Motoring.
Our subject vehicle is an older restoration still showing excellent. The paint could use a good detail and is dusty from a few years in heated storage. It is a numbers matching 64 Vette with the trusty and quick 300 Horsepower 327 Small Block V8, sought after 4 speed and original Knock off Wheels.
With 1967 Big Blocks and 63 Splitty's bringing Six Figure Prices the big question is what is the Middle Kid 64 Roadster worth? This is a real nice car but not a show winner. This subject vehicles purpose should be to be driven and enjoyed.
For this special What's It Worth? we have included a complete appraisal. The subject 64 Stingray Roadster is also for sale. CONTACT US if you are interested.
